La squadra \u00e8 stata fondata dal produttore francese di biciclette e dal marchio di sigarette Gitane* e aveva come sponsor principale il produttore italiano di componenti Campagnolo.<br \/>\nIl marchio francese Gitane \u00e8 uno di quei nomi che erano un valore fisso nel gruppo ciclistico nella seconda met\u00e0 del secolo scorso. Vi hanno partecipato grandi del ciclismo come Jean Stablinski, Rudi Altig, Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Lucien van Impe, Laurent Fignon e Greg Lemond. Gitane ha vinto il Tour de France non meno di 11 volte.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1975 e nel 1976, la maglia da ciclismo Gitane-Campagnolo \u00e8 stata indossata da Bernard Hinault, Gerben Karstens, Willy Teirlinck e naturalmente Lucien Van Impe (classifica alpinistica Tour de France 1975 e classifica finale Tour de France 1976).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>* Gitane \u00e8 sia un marchio di sigarette che di biciclette.
